YAYA

Yaya grows up in Torino, in the resonant Babylon of his home, where the rhythms of his father’s, singer and leading voice of the ensemble M’bamina, drums prophesied a multi-ethnic Italy. During the 70’s the sound of M’bamina spread an exotic afro-beat sound in the smoky clubs of the cold Torino of those days. As a boy Yaya grew up surrounded by the sound of the albums released by one of the pioneer band of afro sound in Italy. Since his teen age, Yaya approaches with the rhythm performing as a drummer around the city. It is when at the age of 17 he purchases a pair of decks, that his blood’s rhythm takes an electronic turmoil driving him to house music: Yaya begins then playing at clubs and parties of the flourished techno-house scene of Turin. At 18, he lands for the first time in the island of music hedonism, Ibiza; his vivacity lead him to play at several afterhours and his musical assertiveness allowed him to be noticed by the entrepreneurs of the white island’s big electronic circus. In the afternoons, Yaya spent hours mixing synths of his hybrid sound, storing up a vast library of tracks. The arias of Yaya’s scores reach the ears of Loco Dice, who falls in love with the Afro Latin rumba of Fresca de l’Agua and decides to record the Vecute ep. The phone call, the turning point that changes his biography, Yaya receives it in 2009 in Africa: <<Hello Yaya? This is Dice>>. Yaya thus becomes part of the Desolat family. So far, following the orbit of Desolat’s circles, he has landed in the big meccas of European electronic music: Fabric, Watergate, the Iarmaroc Fest in Romania, the Bermuda festival in Berlin, Row 14 and Goa in Barcelona , Sankeys in Manchester, Mint in Leeds, Silo in Liverpool, Mad in Lousanne, Cocoricò, Magazzini Generali…Yaya joins Desolat events during the Miami Music Conference, plays in New York City and around US, in South America and in Africa.

In the 2013 summer season in Ibiza, Yaya performs at opening and closing of Space as during the We Love’s with Savana Potente dates in August, furthermore at the daily Loco Dice’s Used & Abused at Ushuaia, at the Tini & the Gang party at Sirocco beach and at Zoo Project. Yaya is a very prolific producer and in these years, his tracks has been released in vinyl and digital by Desolat, Cadenza, Be As One, Kina Music, Kiara Knock Knock series, Souvenir Plus, Etruria Beat, Maison d’être, Earlydub, Draft, Hoenregler, Hummingbird Label, Oblack records. Studio is where Yaya visaulises himself during the winter as aboard another flight with Desolat and playing another gig at Savana Potente, his playground, the best party in town.

PIRUPA

What Pirupa has accomplished in the last years is astounding and this is just the tip of the iceberg, making him one of the producers and DJs you have to watch.

A talented DJ/producer from Italy, Pirupa has recently separated himself from the pack of successful producers by topping beatport’s charts with his last releases. Now with two of the most downloaded tracks on Beatport “Sweet Devil” in 2009 , “Get Funky” in 2010 and “Party Non Stop” in 2012, the sky’s the limit for this relentless talent from the small peninsula.

Signed to impressive (well known) dance record labels in the world (Drumcode, Crosstown Rebels, Desolat, Intec Digital, Get Physical, Defected, Cècille, Viva Music, Saved, Noir Music, Rebirth, Snatch! Records, Suara, Stereo) Pirupa has recently remixed Sharam and the legendary Jamiroquai for Universal, more than Riva Starr, NiCe7, Luca Agnelli among others.

Pirupa has accomplished this in a short period of time, building a reputation that takes most artists a lifetime to achieve. A feat like this can cause some people to sit back, relax, and acknowledge their own success but this has only caused Pirupa to work harder with new hot releases!

His success in the studio led to rank at #11 in the Top100 Most Charted Artists of 2010 on Resident Advisor and has landed Pirupa gigs at some of the most prestigious clubs in the world, gracing the decks of many leading venues.

His “Party Non Stop”, first released on Desolat and then on Defected, has been recently awarded “Track of the Season” at the Ibiza DJ Awards 2012 and has also been the most charted track on Resident Advisor for the whole 2012.

His DJ sets are a mixture between House and Tech House, with some Deep and Techno vibes, which have brought him to play alongside legends such as Carl Cox, Sven Vath, Pete Tong, Marco Carola, Steve Lawler, Deep Dish and many more.

Pirupa’s tracks are regularly supported and played by Pete Tong, Luciano, Carl Cox, Richie Hawtin, Paul Van Dyk, Loco Dice, Marco Carola, Danny Tenaglia, Dubfire, Nick Curly, Erick Morillo, Matthias Tanzmann, Steve Lawler, Nic Fanciulli, Joris Voorn, James Zabiela and Mark Knight to name a few.

NIKOLA GALA

Part of the exciting wave of Greek talents coming up in house and techno over the last decade, Nikola Gala is a prolific producer whose impeccably produced tracks have become big releases for Ibadan Records, Rekids, Freerange Records and Plastic City; all labels which represent true quality in the world of underground dance music. Armed with little more than a mixtape of random techno tunes and the first two albums of The Prodigy as a teenager, Nikola Gala embarked on his musical journey which has lasted over 15 years. Producing since 1995, DJ since 2000, Gala founded his own record label called Escada Music, has traveled with his music around to the world serenading dancefloors in Tokyo, London, Madrid, Moscow and Stockholm, and impressed even the most hardened dance music journalist and critic with his clever productions, and a comprehension of sound that knows no borders.

Nikola’s musical output and DJ style has evolved and reinvented itself many times over the years, always incorporating fresh new elements while remaining relevant and interesting. In fact, after a perusal of Nikolas back catalog, one might wonder if there’s something he isn’t capable of producing! Nikolas first records of progressive house music were released on the most spotlight labels of the genre including Armada, Lost Language, Rennaisance, Intrinsic and Audio Therapy. In 2005 after switching to a more sophisticated, deep house style, Nikola was gaining attention for making rich tracks with a sharp tech edge, like “Everything Is You” on Stripped Records. “What helps me most in developing my sound” Nikola explains, “is the music scene itself. There are so many good producers releasing amazing material week by week, it’s what pushes me to explore new sounds.” This is precisely what he did in 2008 after dancing all night long to Âme. Nikola came home and wrote Kilo Tango the EP that would signify a major turning point in his career. Techno producer Jerome Sydenham would release Kilo Tango on his renowned label Ibadan, and later commission Nikola for yet another release. “Beyond Nikola’s diverse creative talents”, remarks Sydenham, “I really appreciate his inner balance as an individual and wish him only the best.”

Since then, more excellent releases under Nikolas belt and a relocation to Berlin have only encouraged and fostered his promising career. Consider the passionate vibes of the track “Broken Chords” on Freerange, or the experimental ethno-mesmeric collaborations with Claap Records founder and good friend, GummiHz. Nikola is especially proud of his releases for Rekids – regarded by many as one of the leading record labels in the entire underground scene. Nikola acknowledges the move to Berlin has influenced his sound, but is quick to reassure us of another constant characteristic of his music: “I like to play energetic music with an uplifting character, even if I play deep or tech-house beats. People are going to clubs to have a good time and enjoy themselves, so bringing a smile to peoples faces is priority number one for me.” Armed with undeniable talent, imagination and the gift of soulful expression, we can only imagine what the future holds for Nikola.
